Account Registration and Dating Profile Information

When you register an account with Hatch, we collect information such as your name, phone number, email address, birthday, gender, photograph, and match preferences. If you choose to provide it, we may also collect information such as education information, family information, professional information, religion, ethnicity, and any other details you choose to disclose in your bio. We may ask questions to solicit information about you and facilitate matches on our service. This may include questions about: gender, age, religious, preference, and ethnicity preferences. We use this information to provide you with account-related functionalities and matching services.

We recommend and caution all users of our app to think carefully about and review the information you disclose about yourself. We do not encourage adding personal contact information, including email addresses, phone numbers, social media handles, financial information, or other sensitive information, that may be subject to misuse and identity theft or fraud on your profile. Information provided about your preferences, profile, and other information used to suggest possible matches may be displayed in your profile and publicly accessible.

Account Activity

We collect information about your activities performed when you are logged into your account. This may include your survey responses, match information, chat logs, and device usage.Cookie Data

Device Data

The specific data we collect can depend on the individual settings of your device and the permissions you grant when you install and use the app.

Location Data

When you use our App we collect your location from the GPS, Wi-Fi, and/or cellular technology in your device to determine your location and your distance from other Eggs. Our use of your location data is based upon your consent to provide us with geo-location information.

Email Interconnectivity

When you sign up for our newsletter we will collect your email address. If you receive email from us, we use certain tools to capture data related to when you open our message, click on any links or banners it contains, or otherwise interact with it. We use this information to provide you with information about our services and to understand how you interact with our communications to you.


If you apply for a job posting, or become an employee, we collect information necessary to process your application or to retain you as an employee. This may include, among other things, your Social Security Number. Providing this information is required for employment. We use information about current employees to carry out our payment and benefits obligations. In some contexts, we are also required by law to collect information about our employees. We also use this information to have efficient staffing and work force operations.


If you provide us feedback or contact us for support we will collect your name and e-mail address, as well as any other content that you send to us, in order to reply. We use this information in order to receive, and act upon, your feedback or issues.

Sensitive Data

When registering your account and when using our services, you may choose to provide us with certain “sensitive information.” This may include information about your sexual orientation, sex life, philosophical beliefs, religion, political opinions, and racial or ethnic origin. Please note that you are not required to provide any of this information to us in order to use our services and that if you do provide us with this information, this information may be made publicly available to others who use our services. By providing this information willingly during sign-up and usage of our application and its associated services, you grant the right for us to obtain and use this sensitive information. We may use this information to improve user experience of our applications and adjust how we match you to other user’s in the app and associated services.

Website and App Interactions We use technology to monitor how you interact with our website and app. This may include which links you click on, or information that you type into our forms or the app. This may also include information about your device or browser. We use this information to understand how you interact with our website and app to better improve it, and to understand your preferences and interests in order to select offerings that you might find most useful. We also may use this information to detect and prevent fraud.

Log Data When you visit our website or app, we collect information such as your browser type, operating system, Internet Protocol (IP) address (a number that is automatically assigned to a computer when the Internet is used), domain name, click-activity, referring website, and/or a date/time stamp for visitors. We use this information to monitor our networks and the visitors to our websites. Among other things, it helps us understand which of our products or services is the most popular. Additionally, when you encounter certain errors while using the app, we automatically collect data about the error and the circumstances surrounding its occurrence. This data may include technical details about your device, what you were trying to do when the error happened, and other technical information relating to the problem. You may or may not receive notice of such errors, even in the moment they occur, that they have occurred, or what the nature of the error is. In addition to the information that we collect from you directly, we may also receive information about you from other sources, including third parties, business partners, our affiliates, or publicly available sources. For example, if you submit a job application, or become an employee, we may conduct a background check.

Use And Processing Of Information. In addition to the purposes and uses described above, we use information in the following ways:

  • To identify you when you visit our website or use our app.

  • To improve our services and product offerings.

  • To review, flag, and remove inappropriate content.

We may also share your information in order to establish or exercise our rights, to defend against a legal claim, to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding possible illegal activities, suspected fraud, safety of person or property, or a violation of our policies, or to comply with your request for the provision of services by a third party intermediary. 

  • Public. Our website and app provides various opportunities to post personal information in a public forum. Your match profile may be publicly available to people we match you with, or to support searching functionality.

  • Service Providers. We may share your information with service providers. Among other things service providers may help us to administer our website and app, provide technical and customer support, moderate content, provide data analytics, and handle payment transactions. We may share your information with analytics and marketing providers. These currently include:

  • In-App Purchases. When you make an in-app purchase through the Apple or Google Android platform, you are sharing your information with those third parties. They may use your information subject to their own privacy policies.

Your Choices. Some jurisdictions give you a right to make the following choices regarding your personal information:

  • Access To Your Personal Information. You may request access to your personal information by contacting us at the address described below. If required by law, upon request, we will grant you access to the personal information that we have about you. Note that California residents may be entitled to ask us for a notice describing what categories of personal information (if any) we share with third parties or affiliates for direct marketing. 

  • Deletion Of Your Personal Information. You may delete your account with us at any time. Upon deletion of your account, we will delete all personal information we have about you on our systems. Please note that if you signed up for promotional emails from Hatched, you must separately unsubscribe from these emails (see Section 4 below). You may also request that we delete your personal information by contacting us at the address described below. If required by law we will grant a request to delete information, but you should note that in many situations we must keep your personal information to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce our agreements, or for another one of our business purposes. 

  • Online Tracking. We do not currently recognize automated browser signals regarding tracking mechanisms, which may include "Do Not Track" instructions. 

  • Promotional Emails. You may choose to provide us with your email address for the purpose of allowing us to send free newsletters, surveys, offers, and other promotional materials to you, as well as targeted offers from third parties. You can stop receiving promotional emails by following the unsubscribe instructions in e-mails that you receive. How We Protect Personal Information No method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage, is fully secure. While we use reasonable efforts to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure, we cannot guarantee the security of your personal information. In the event that we are required by law to inform you of a breach to your personal information we may notify you electronically, in writing, or by telephone, if permitted to do so by law. When you create an account with us, you will be prompted to create a password. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password, and you are responsible for any access to or use of your account by someone else that has obtained your password, whether or not such access or use has been authorized by you. You are also responsible for maintaining the security of your social media accounts log in methods and/or access to SMS verification messages sent to your mobile device or other SMS enabled devices” For example, ensuring any passwords associated with accessing your personal information and accounts are secure and confidential. You should notify us of any unauthorized use of your password or account.

Other Important Information The following additional information relates to our privacy practices:

Third Party Applications/Websites. We have no control over the privacy practices of websites or applications that we do not own. In the event our app or website contains links to third-party sites and services, please be aware that those sites and services have their own privacy policies. After following a link to any third-party content, you should read their posted privacy policy information about how they collect and use personal information. This Privacy Policy does not apply to any of your activities after you leave our app or website.

Changes To This Privacy Policy. We may change our privacy policy and practices over time. To the extent that our policy changes in a material way, the policy that was in place at the time that you submitted personal information to us will generally govern that information unless we receive your consent to the new privacy policy. Our privacy policy includes an “effective” and “last updated” date. The effective date refers to the date that the current version took effect. The last updated date refers to the date that the current version was last substantively modified.

Children. We do not aim any of our products or services directly at children under the age of 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information about children under 18.
